Joan Severance is an American actress known for her appearance in films like “See No Evil, Hear No Evil” and “Black Scorpion.” Prior to her acting career, Joan Severance was a high-profile, international model. She entered a beauty pageant in Houston and was spotted by the Elite Modeling Agency who signed her up and brought her to Paris. She then moved on to a new career and pursued acting in the late 1980’s. Joan often plays the role of femme fatales in horror and murder mystery films. The Film “Black scorpion” has proven to be the breakthrough on Joan’s career. In 1997, Joan Severance co-produced some of her films like “Matter of Trust,” and “black Scorpion II: Aftershock.” In 1998, Joan Severance was included in revival series of Aaron Spelling entitled “The Love Boat: the Next Wave.”
In her early years, Joan Severance built a very high profile career in the fashion industry, appearing in numerous commercials. She then headed to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. It didn’t take long for her to be noticed; Joan landed an agent and manager quickly. Severance had her first role after six months staying in Hollywood. She worked with Kevin Spacey and Ken Wahl in the hit CBS series “Wiseguy” in 1987. After two years in the industry, Joan’s work caught director Arthur Hiller’s attention who cast her in the 1989 movie “See No Evil, Hear No Evil” along with actors Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder and her “Wiseguy” co-star, Kevin Spacey.
Joan Severance also appeared in “Virtual World Entertainment” as the Martian Belle Samantha Dooley where she collaborated with other talented and high-profile actors like Weird Al Yankovic, Judge Reinhold and R. Lee Ermey as well as music videos like “My Only Love” and “Flesh and Blood” by Roxy Music,” and “Rhythm of Love” by the heavy metal rock band Scorpions.
